She built the room because she needed it first.
Dr. Dashia is a Purpose Ambassador, 20-year educator, bestselling author, foster care survivor, and cancer survivor. My Release Room™ was not a business idea. It was a personal necessity that became a community resource.
She was the strong one.
For longer than anyone should be.
Dr. Dashia grew up in Florida, raised by her grandmother until she lost her. Then she lost her mother to HIV/AIDS. She entered the Florida foster care system carrying grief that no child should have to hold alone and no system was equipped to address. She kept going anyway.
She became an educator in Florida for more than two decades. She earned two PhDs. She survived cancer. She published books. She built a community. And through all of it she was doing what high-capacity people do. She was performing okay when she was not okay.
What she could not find anywhere was a space that combined physical release with nervous system regulation, faith-based grounding, and real community. A space that did not require her to explain her pain before she could release it. A space that was accessible, affordable, and built for everyday people carrying extraordinary weight.
So she built it.
My Release Room™ is South Atlanta's first somatic release experience and it is here because Dr. Dashia refused to keep waiting for someone else to build it.
She teaches from what she has lived.
